HAD TO SAY ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCE:
Broderick didn't say he was going to teach us to paint but that he was going to teach us a technique to help us achieve and overcome our fears of learning about watercolor essentials. Broderick's personality to teach made the learning enjoyable. The four classes were well thought out as he showed us how to achieve a technique to follow. It was not about how good he was an an artist but how we can achieve what
he was showing us to accomplish a finished painting. The technique was simple, easy to follow and not hard to comprehend. Broderick is inspirational and "YES" Watercolor Essentials is the WAY TO GO!!!
I've not attended other painting workshops, so you're my first and only comparator. I would describe the experience as an equal mix of demonstration and practice, so there's no room for participants to feel bored (e.g. not too much instruction or information that's good but not immediately relevant).
No information overload. Clear concise demonstration. In-class practice and support.
You will not be disappointed because you will have fun. Brod is a wonderful artist and instructor. He is well-prepared for the workshop/class. He plans the time really well, explanations and demos are very clear and shares his knowledge with the rest of the class. Very attentive to every student.
I would describe it as a controlled, guided, step-by-step approach to the basics of doing water colours, taught by an excellent artist, with a wonderful manner and people skills.. Excellent for complete beginners, and a refresher for those with some experience. And good individual attention and advice.
Your thoughtful attitude to the workshop started from the clear statements of art-supplies list, transportation guidelines and reminder emails to treating us a sweet breakfast for every class which was not provided in other workshops. Another thing that makes me feel you are very organized is the way you do the demonstrations...it's so detailed and easy to understand. The subjects you were creating for us to paint are also interesting and impressive as well. Now, I have found a new way to paint watercolors and don't panic anymore.
